Old Colour Pics Of London

I stumbled on these pictures. So strange to see London in colour in 1940.
Picadilly Circus
Lots of free parking spaces

I’d like to see more pics… =/!
Hugs from Chile dear Fran!
Amazing pics! do you miss London, Fran?
I was in London last week. Everyone is so busy there, nobody seems to have a second to give. You don’t see many people stopping in the street for a natter. I like to look at the buildings in London, many of them are very beautiful and elegant, though the cars are not as elegant as those in your pics Fran!
Oooh nice photos – spot the red London buses, haha. Oh this reminds me……did they demolish the Astoria theatre after the Oct 2008 gig? I’ve not been back since so I don’t know what’s in it’s place now.
The color is gorgeous. The tones are different somehow. I bought myself a reproduction Diana camera on a whim a couple of years ago and then completely forgot about it til now. I think I’ll give it a try and see if I can get something with a similar feel.
Amazing pictures. I love looking at old photos like these. I’ve got a great book of New York comparing places now and 100 years ago. It’s amazing.
I am loving the pics Fran! You totally made my birthday with these. Classic London.
Crazy. I always wonder what they world looked like from my grandfather’s eyes.
Why do I prefer to walk around there? hmmmm nice and now we would need Dr Who
Brilliant pictures. It is always cool to see old pictures in colour. It is so easy to think that the world used to be in black and white before colour film came into prominence. On a similar note there is some great footage of WWII in colour. Fantastic stuff for anyone interested in WWII.
wonderful pictures!! i hope to go to london one day..thats my dream
i always felt that i shoulded been born there lol
Wow, that’s strange… I went to London last year and it seems really different from the pictures… Mmmmm… but I like it just as it is now, maybe ’cause I see it with foreigner eyes…
Oh my, where did you find these? It’s surreal, like it’s taken from a recent movie or something. Makes you want to live in that time doesn’t it
btw I meant it to read – why is it that i would prefer to walk around there, meaning I would prefer it
These are great, but 1940 really?
I found this site and inmediately thought of you: http://fromme-toyou.tumblr.com/post/392937527/paris-polaroids
