oh right, this was posted on the travisonline message board a couple of days ago, hehe. brilliant!! =) well i think “heaven over berlin” would have been a nice album title as well, but wreckorder is far more original <3 btw, how’s your german coming along, fran? saying that, you haven’t been in germany for quite a while now, hmm…
The artistry in your music amazes me. There are thousands of musicians in the world – to be able to stand out from the masses is such a gift. It’s something we all strive for – be it through music, poetry or just everyday life…yet so few of us achieve it. As a designer, mom, wife, friend, I wake up every morning hoping to do something/be something great. We want it all…but I’m my own worst enemy – I find I hold myself back, too quiet, too shy, just another face in the crowd. But it’s people like you, Fran, that keep the spark lit. Thank you for the inspiration.
cool interview and performance Fran. So interesting about the ’12 memories’ title and ideas. I agree that most of us should have a mental reset somewhere between the transition of childhood and adulthood. It would have kept me out of trouble for sure. Thanks for sharing.
encore…that sounded great. thanks for posting
Ken Bruce played “Buttercups” yesterday, it made my day.
Talking of radio 2, they’ve been advertising the Elvis Forever show. Any idea what you’re gonna play?
That acoustic version of Big Chair knocked the wind out of me. It was simply beautiful. Your voice seems made for solo acoustic performances. Will you have a band on your upcoming tour or will you be doing it on your own?
Oh my!! I’ve cheated, I’ve cheated!!! I never listen to a song that’s in an upcoming album of an artist I love before having my own copy!
First you played Buttercups and it was ok, because it’s the first single. Then Big Chair started and I jumped on my seat thinking “it’s a new song!!”, but then realised it was Big Chair so no problem, I just kept on watching.
But then, Anything took me by surprise, and since it had already started, I just had to listen to it.
I cheated! I feel bad with myself now, haha. Anyway, that song sounds downright BEAUTIFUL, can’t wait to hear the full version!!!!
(Now my brain is being mean, reminding me of my sin, and Anything is permantently stuck in my head).
This is a great segment, I really enjoy watching you explain the “hard-drive” I am so excited to hear your solo songs again, truly beautiful! Fills my hear with joy.
I am SO lucky to live in a place that has an awesome independent radio station like WRNR that happens to adore one of my favorite bands as much as I do. I’ve won tickets to the Travis and Frandy showcases the last couple of times you’ve been through town and both times I won from Bob and we had nice conversations about how amazing you are. That was a lovely session you did together.
So glad to hear “Anything” again so I can remember how it properly goes. I have a bastardized version going through my head a lot lately, especially since my Grandma died.
I have already posted a coment on this topic but wasn’t pusblish i dont know why -__- … Anyway Fran, I just wanted to tell to that this interview was great (thank you for uploading) is good to see you in such a great shape, you sound amazing and i think you just chose the right time to do this solo Project. Congratulations in advanced, because im sure the whole album will rock big time ^_^!!
Hope to see you soon in Mexico with or with out Travis.
oh, i love you fran.. some bands are included in the soundtrack of my life, but you and travis are one of the few bands that make up the score of my life. (short bursts vs long-term, if that makes sense.) can’t wait for the new release!
Your voice is unearthly and your eyes from paradise…Love you!
FH “hahaha… that’s funny… I sound like the description of an ice cream bar in a commercial…”
Maybe the girl above is right, your voice is uneathly, especially in ‘buttercups’,as in some moments it sounds like George Harrison’s voice … oops, this sounds like a joke? Shame on me, since I still love George(and Paul too :p)…
Hey, You might as well join a great jam-session where you, Paul, Tom Chaplin, Thom Yorke, Matt Bellamy(all my favorite ones)could play together and find other more and more magical arrangements for ‘Before You Were Young’ or ‘The Long and Winding Road’,'Hamburg Song’,'My Iron Lung’ or ‘Soldier’s poem, for example… WOW!
Have I told you I dreamed at you singing the Shakespeare’s Sonnet 29 instead of Rufus Wainwright? No? I swear it was true and you did fine than him
You know, Mr. ‘Charming man’, I have a long list of weird dreams(can you realize Paul McCartney singing ‘Imagine’? well,I could … gee, sometimes I think I’m not in the right place or time…
I’m terribly sorry if I don’t make myself clear, cause is not easy express feelings in a safe and true way when you’re writing in a second language. On my own language I’d problably write an article about my dream come true. Lucky you! hahaha
Thanks for sharing this video, I loved it so much, maybe because it makes you real and almost ‘touchable.
i love the radio session, Fran. Your music sounds free and unconditional. Saw Travis first in Nottingham, christmas 1997 and you were very good, especially U16 Girls. I loved The Man Who, singing the songs with everyone else in a festival field when you’re songs were played on radio 1! My favourite album is The Invisible Band and a b-side song called ‘Only Molly Knows’.
why hold on to something that only makes you sad……………
keep writing, keep experimenting and i for one will always listen to your music cos it’s brill.
