Hey Seattle. Thanks for tonight. When I walked into the venue earlier I was surprised by the layout. Was really formal and attractive, crescent shaped booths cascading towards the stage, all set with cutlery a single candle and an ice cold bottle of water. Like a fancy restaurant from Brat Pack times. I thought I should get a tux but had no time. The show tonight was so different from last night. I love how the venue sort of dictates how the show will be played. I feel as though there are so many directions it can take. I never felt more relaxed on stage as I do just now. Why is that? hmmm… The songs have a very different tone sans band. It’s less of a show gig, the songs are performed almost like I was recording them. The performance is more between songs but even that isn’t a performance because it’s like how I would speak to anyone i met… like I said never so relaxed… there’s something in the air.
Well thanks again Seattle. Tomorrow I leave for NYC where we’re going to shoot a video for Buttercups. I gonna write up a diary for when the video comes out. Should be interesting. Sorry if I missed y’all after the show. I’m up at 5.
2 days left of the detox. Yes!! I see the finish line. But maybe I feel like continuing… maybe i’ll eat a massive chocolate cake while I think about it…
You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
Fran, it is so interesting to hear your sentiments about how you feel on stage right now because I also instantly felt this massive difference on this tour, from the previous gigs I’ve been blessed to attend (Berkeley 09, TO w/ Andy 09). Sure, when you love a musician/band, you’re going to have a good time anyway. But sometimes, magic happens and the truth that radiates from the performer is beautiful. I felt it when you were on and off stage. It is a true gift.
I call it ‘transcendence’
And definitely indulge in chocolate cake to celebrate (nothing is bad in moderation!). One word: ganache.
FH “There will be a chocolate cake on each fist and I’ll be smashing those chocolate fists into my own mouth”
Thank you for the great Seattle show Fran !
Here’s a shot of tonight while you had the stars up behind you (15 seconds exposure) http://tinyurl.com/SilverFran
Please come back with the rest of the boys soon.
FH “Cooool”
Thanks for another great show Fran! I hope it wasn’t too weird for you watching everyone chowing down there food
I would’ve shared my dessert with you
Thanks again!
really, really,REALLY want to listen to wreckorder!!! october come fast!
The moment ‘cake’ came up I instantly remembered the hurling cakefest that was the “Sing” video. Although I’m sure you can do without the octopus. Mid-flight. In slow motion.
hey is there any chance someone could post a setlist? i’d love to know what songs are being played ha.
oh and fran, are you coming to ireland?
Have been a fan for years when we first saw you guys open up for Oasis at Radio City way back in I think 2000. Have seen you play countless times and always felt like is was a very fun intimate show even in the larger venues…Looking forward to seeing you play your new songs…welcome back to the East Coast….Need any fans for extras in the video? Would love to help….
Do you really recommed DETOX? I’ve always thought it’s a very difficult thing to accomplish, and of course, it won’t work with me (a chocolate addict) haha anyway eat that chocolate cake in 2 days! (: and the Buttercups video! OMG I can’t wait to see it
Video! how cool!! reaaally looking foward to see that
I wish i was in Seattle… but will you come to France ? fingers crossed
I’m looking forward for Buttercups video !
and don’t hesitate for the massive chocolate cake (come back into the dark side Fran !)
thank you a thousand times for the show last night. Me and the wife had a fight going on, but your comical musings and beautiful songs of life and love made me realize i was being a complete tit. we made up profusely! Also- a million thanks for playing Blue Flashing Lights (it was me who yelled it, and i’m generally too timid to voice requests). That song is so powerful, and i don’t know if i’m getting the correct meaning, but its incredibly uplifting in a “fight the bastard” kinda way. Anyhow- best show i’ve seen since Willie Nelson! Can’t wait to see the whole gang!
oh yeah, you’ve also inspired me to detox! pay it forward!!
Iron fists of chocolate cake. If you have something like this in one fist: http://tinyurl.com/34d4455
and something like this in the other fist: http://tinyurl.com/34y6798
good and evil can battle it out in your mouth. But which will win? This is a very thought provoking question.

Hi Fran!
This was an amazing show, it really was a joy to see you perform. A pity I couldn’t say hi afterwards, public transport beckons. Maybe next time?
I took some photos, which are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/julius_seizure/sets/72157624736028753/
And I updated my blog on the wee event here: http://decibelsaspixels.blogspot.com/2010/09/fran-healy.html – it’s a bit cheeky, but I hope you’ll forgive me as I’ve already pre-ordered the Vinyl for Wreckorder (Would you sign it for me? Bless).
Keep on doing those push-ups,
Nicky
